16 clubs to feature in Delta Teqball tournament

The 2023 Bet9ja Delta State National Teqball Tournament has kicked off with 16 clubs from 11 states at the indoor sports complex of the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Delta State Teqball Chairman, Dick Marvel, on Saturday, confirmed that all participating clubs had arrived the state capital and ready for the tourney.

Marvel, flanked by the association’s head of communications, Mr. Promise Uwaeme, and secretary, Eddy Ogbemudia, said the tournament would feature five categories namely male singles, male doubles, female singles, female doubles, and mixed doubles, noting that the winners would share the $3,000 prize money.

Also speaking on the tourney, Ogbemudia disclosed that inadequate fund was responsible for the low spread of the sport, adding, however, that plans were ongoing to make it more popular.

He applauded Bet9ja, the Delta State government and other donors for supporting the organization of the event in Asaba.

Ogbemudia added: “We are doting our Is and crossing the Ts to see Teqball fully feature in the next National Sports Festival.”
