The Mobile Court of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has found 16 individuals and businesses guilty of violating environmental sanitation laws in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The cases were prosecuted by the agency’s Head of Environment, Mr. Isaac Nwosu, who led an enforcement operation targeting offenders who failed to comply with environmental regulations.
During the same session, four defendants were cleared of the charges and released, while the court issued bench warrants for 12 others who failed to appear despite being charged. One of the entities prosecuted, Chuzz4 Apartment and Suites, was accused of channeling wastewater into a public drainage system an act deemed harmful to public health and a clear violation of environmental rules.
Reacting to the development, the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr. Patrick Ukah, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to maintaining environmental standards and ensuring cleanliness across Asaba.
He noted that strict enforcement measures are essential to discourage future violations and encourage proper waste management among residents and business operators.
Ukah also warned that anyone who continues to ignore environmental laws, especially in the improper disposal of wastewater and other waste, will be prosecuted without hesitation. He urged residents to adhere to sanitation regulations in order to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.
