Over 10,000 members of the Delta State Informal Sector (Artisans and Market Women) have endorsed President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for re-election in 2027.
The endorsement was announced during the Artisans Day celebration, where 25 local government coordinators and 36 state trade union leaders were inaugurated.
Represented by his deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Governor Oborevwori pledged continued support for artisans, describing them as the “silent engine” of Delta’s economy and the backbone of communities and drivers of economic growth.
He highlighted his administration’s investments in vocational training, microfinance access, and skills development to empower artisans to grow their businesses.
Oborevwori charged the newly inaugurated leaders to strengthen coordination, innovation, and mentorship among trades, and urged Deltans to patronize local artisans to retain wealth within communities.
Former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa who was present at the ceremony also called for sustained, structured empowerment of artisans to boost the economy.
