The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has thrown its full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, backing them as the party’s only presidential and governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The decision was unanimously agreed upon on Wednesday, during a State Executive Committee (SEC) meeting held at the APC Secretariat in Asaba, led by the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Executive Committee, along with chairmen from all 25 local government areas across Delta State.
In his welcome speech, Elder Sobotie called on party leaders to stay committed, disciplined, and united in building a stronger APC in the state under Governor Oborevwori’s leadership.
The meeting centered around strategies for grassroots mobilization, mending internal rifts, and reestablishing the APC as a major political force in Delta State.
Elder Sobotie also updated members on the party’s upcoming empowerment program, which aims to provide real support and meaningful benefits to party members and communities throughout the state.
The key moment of the meeting was the adoption of a resolution backing President Tinubu as the APC’s sole presidential candidate, in recognition of his visionary leadership, bold economic reforms, and dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In the same vein, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori was endorsed as the APC’s sole governorship candidate for 2027, with members praising his proven track record, inclusive leadership style, and commitment to delivering good governance through the M.O.R.E Agenda.
The motion to adopt the resolution was put forward by Chief Ubu Jiminyevwe Digbame, the State Assistant Auditor of the party, and seconded by Pastor Norbert Sochukwudinma, APC Chairman for Aniocha South Local Government Area.
The endorsement was received with loud, enthusiastic applause, showing the strong and widespread support of the State Executive Committee for both leaders.
The meeting concluded with a prayer for unity, peace, and progress, led by Sir Joshua Kekeje, Chairman of Ughelli South Local Government Area.
In a follow-up statement signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, Esq., Delta APC reaffirmed its dedication to unity, discipline, and service, vowing to rally strong grassroots support to ensure a decisive victory for the party in 2027
