The member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, has extended a lifeline to the elderly in his constituency through a large-scale free medical outreach held across Delta State’s Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, and Ukwuani Local Government Areas.
The medical outreach, which was specifically targeted at senior citizens, was organized in collaboration with the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) and Veekites Global Services Limited. The programme provided a wide range of healthcare services aimed at improving the well-being of elderly residents who often struggle to access quality medical attention.
Large crowds of elderly men and women thronged the Primary Healthcare Centre, Aboh (Ndokwa East); Utagba-Uno Primary Healthcare Centre (Ndokwa West); and Ukuzu Primary Healthcare Centre (Ukwuani LGA), where the outreach was held simultaneously.
Speaking during his visit to the three venues, Hon. Ezechi said the initiative was part of his ongoing commitment to enhancing the welfare of his constituents, particularly the aged population. He emphasized that the programme was designed to deliver free, quality healthcare services to senior citizens in line with his broader goal of promoting community health and sustainable development in Ndokwa/Ukwuani.
“This outreach is a demonstration of my dedication to improving the lives of our people, especially the elderly who have contributed immensely to the growth of our communities but often face challenges accessing healthcare,” Ezechi said. “We will continue to support initiatives that promote healthy living and longevity among our people.”
He expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, his Deputy Sir Monday Onyeme, former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and other political leaders in the constituency for their support in making the programme a success. The lawmaker also urged the elderly to take their health seriously by attending regular medical checkups.
The Field Manager of Veekites Global Services Limited, Mr. Pedro Ebipade Timotubo, commended Hon. Ezechi for the initiative, describing the turnout as overwhelming. He disclosed that beneficiaries received free medical consultations, health talks, screenings, blood pressure checks, minor surgeries, tuberculosis tests, and eye examinations, with free medications and eyeglasses distributed to participants.
Local government chairmen Chief Vincent Osilonya (Ndokwa East), Chief Godday Nzete (Ndokwa West), and Barr. Possible Ajede (Ukwuani) alongside the leadership of Ikolobie Ndokwa, lauded the federal lawmaker for his thoughtfulness and compassion. They noted that the outreach was timely and impactful, especially for elderly citizens who could barely afford medical care.
Some beneficiaries, in separate interviews, expressed deep gratitude to Hon. Ezechi for what they described as a life-saving initiative. They appealed for the continuity of the programme to ensure regular medical support for the elderly across the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
