48-Hour Maintenance Slated for NIS Passport Platform

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced that its Passport Digital Platform will undergo a 48-hour maintenance, which is expected to cause temporary disruptions to passport-related services.

In a public notice released on Friday and signed by the Service’s Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the agency said the maintenance will take place from 12:00 a.m. on 12 December to 6:00 a.m. on 14 December 2025 (GMT).

The notice explained that the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve system performance, enhance security, and provide a better experience for passport applicants. “The Nigeria Immigration Service wishes to inform the public that routine maintenance is being carried out on its Passport Digital Platform to boost system performance and user experience. During this time, users may experience temporary service interruptions, slower response times, or limited access to certain passport services,” the statement read.

The NIS asked for patience and cooperation from applicants, assuring that its technical teams are working around the clock to fully restore services within the specified timeframe. Anyone needing assistance during the downtime can contact the NIS support team via email at support@immigration.gov.ng or through the Service’s verified social media channels.

In a related update, the NIS said on Tuesday that it had set up temporary complaint-response channels on social media after some of its support accounts were taken down.

These new channels are intended to ensure continued support for passport and visa applicants and include three temporary X (formerly Twitter) handles: @InquireAtNaija, @nigimmigration, and @InquireAtNaija_, along with the Service’s Instagram page.
