Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, has honored the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, calling him a visionary ruler whose reign has brought unity, fairness, and justice to the Warri Kingdom. He also praised the Monarch’s efforts in preserving and promoting culture, describing it as a lasting legacy of enlightened leadership.
The Governor made these remarks on Thursday during the Monarch’s fourth coronation anniversary, held at the royal palace in Warri South Local Government Area.
Governor Oborevwori noted that the peaceful leadership style of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III has played a key role in driving the state’s growth, particularly in infrastructure development and the empowerment of communities across Delta.
Represented by the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Governor Oborevwori stated that the Olu’s global perspective has helped elevate Warri Kingdom’s profile by fostering international partnerships and attracting investment. He added that the Monarch has positioned Warri as a growing economic hub, making the state more appealing to the international community.
He noted that the Monarch’s reign has ushered in peace, unity, and purposeful leadership rooted in vision and integrity—qualities that have driven meaningful change not just in Warri Kingdom, but across the local government, the state, and even the nation.
Governor Oborevwori also prayed for God’s continued wisdom, strength, and good health for the Olu, so he can keep leading his people to greater heights.
“The tranquility of Warri Kingdom under your reign has provided the foundation upon which we continue to expand infrastructure and empower communities and drive development across Delta State.
“As we mark this significant anniversary, l join the people of Iwere land at home and abroad in celebrating a monarch whose reign has revived cultural heritage, inspired youths and restored pride in Itsekiris dignity. May Almighty God grant you wisdom, strength and good health to continue to lead your people to greater height” Oborevwori said.
The Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, acknowledged that the past year brought many challenges to the kingdom, showing that there’s still a long journey ahead for the people.
However, he encouraged everyone to stay focused and determined, emphasizing that this mindset is essential for the kingdom to make real progress and move forward.
His Majesty called for peace, unity, and togetherness among the people, urging them to overcome the “pull him down syndrome” that many in the kingdom struggle with, pointing out that such behavior only holds the community back.
He said that God has already blessed the people, but those blessings will only become visible when they come together, speak as one, and work collectively.
The monarch warned that the amount of infighting among the Itsekiris has gone on long enough, stressing that it’s time for everyone to come together and push the kingdom forward.
He urged all sons and daughters of the kingdom to stay focused and work towards taking Warri Kingdom to new heights.
He took the opportunity to thank the representatives of the Federal Government, Governor Oborevwori, Emomotimi Guwor, the Director General of DSS, Service Chiefs, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, the Local Government Chairmen of Warri North and South, and others for joining in the kingdom’s celebration.
The event saw a large gathering of Itsekiri sons and daughters from various communities, both local and abroad, come together to pay tribute to the king in a grand and memorable way.
