Team Lagos has emerged winners of the female football event in the ongoing 9th edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba. The Lagos female team defeated Team Delta in the finals five four in a penalty shootout after one one draw at regulation time.
Lagos came from a one goal down to level up at the end of regulation time. Captain of the Lagos Team, Rogert ,said the outcome of the match was more than a victory .
She said, ”We have been coming to Delta to win gold medal in the female football event in the National Youth Games . This is more than a victory for me and my team members, she said.

Delta Team Captain , Anastasia, who broke out in tears , attributed her team loss in the penalty to technical error. She stated, ”My side lost due to some silly mistake from our defense but I return all the glory to God”
Meanwhile, it was jubilation for Team Delta in Judo 40KG Girls as Precious Daniel won Gold, Blessing Chukwuengozi of Team Abia clinched Silver medal while Annabel Iyalekhue of Edo State and Mayor Izibeklen of Bayelsa State settled for Bronze medal
