The National Association of Delta State Students (NADESSTU Worldwide) has stated that the approval of ₦713 million for the payment of the 2024 bursary to students of Delta State origin by the state government is a significant step towards alleviating the financial burden on students.
This initiative is also aimed at encouraging academic excellence within the educational sector, according to the National President of the association, Comrade Wiska Monday.
In a statement on Monday, the NADESSTU president emphasized that the bursary would not only ease the financial challenges faced by students but also inspire more young individuals from Delta State to pursue their academics.
He noted that the financial support underscores the government’s commitment to education and the well-being of its youth.
Comrade Monday also highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering a conducive academic environment, particularly for students facing economic constraints.
According to him, “The bursary approval by the state governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is a testament to his proactive approach to educational support and will have a lasting positive impact on the educational landscape of Delta State.”
The National President called on local government councils in the state to take similar steps to support their students, thereby enhancing the overall educational framework across the region.
He expressed optimism that this bursary scheme would set a precedent for future initiatives aimed at empowering students in various fields of study.
The leadership of NADESSTU reassured the governor of their continuous support and appreciation for his efforts in promoting education and youth development within Delta State.
