The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has applauded the proactive efforts of local government councils in Delta State, describing their strides in grassroots development as commendable.
Speaking during the commissioning of the Ekpan Modern Market and Abattoir, projects executed by the Uvwie Local Government Council, Guwor described the milestone as historic and a testament to effective leadership.
Flanked by key dignitaries, including the Executive Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon Solomon Ighrakpata; the Uvwie Council Chairman, Chief Anthony Ofoni; and the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, the Speaker expressed pride in the council’s commitment to impactful development.
“This achievement demonstrates the council’s dedication to improving the lives of its citizens,” Guwor stated. “These projects will undoubtedly boost economic growth, provide employment opportunities, and enhance the overall well-being of the community.”
The Speaker conveyed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s gratitude for the transformation of Uvwie into a hub of development, noting that the locality now resembles a major construction site. He also congratulated Abe 1 and the Ekpan community for fostering peace and unity in the area.
As part of the ceremony, 15 women from the Ekpan community received empowerment packages, with the Speaker and Hon Ighrakpata supporting the initiative with contributions of ₦500,000 each.
Hon Anthony Ofoni, Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, expressed appreciation for the Speaker’s and Hon Ighrakpata’s unwavering support, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic empowerment.
The Ovie of Uvwie, Emmanuel Sideso Abe 1, also commended the council for its dedication to uplifting the community.
