Police releases MC2kingdom after exposing abandoned project by NDDC contractor, Edevbie

The Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) contractor, Matthew Edevbie, handling the abandoned 132 KVA substation electricity project, has bowed to pressure as the Nigerian police released an Isoko-born comedian, Ajirioghene Otagba, popularly known as MC2Kingdom, according to reports by SaharaReporters.

The comedian, was granted bail on Monday.

The Nigeria Police Force detained MC2Kingdom last Friday, allegedly under the orders of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) contractor Matthew Edevbie over a Facebook video, questioning the abandonment of the Isoko 132 KVA substation electricity project.

The arrest followed a Facebook video posted by the comedian, in which he criticised the abandonment of the Isoko 132 KVA substation electricity project.

Matthew Edevbie, the elder brother of former Delta State finance commissioner and PDP governorship aspirant, David Edevbie, filed a petition accusing Otagba of defamation and cyberstalking.

The comedian, initially arrested by the IG Monitoring Unit in Lagos State, had been transferred to the Maitama Area Command in Abuja.

The political class and leadership of Isoko nation had thrown their weights behind Otagba’s agitation and questioning of the abandoned project by the contractor and demanded for the immediate unconditional release of their son.

The Isoko nation while condemning in its entirety the arrest and detention of the comedian, cautioned the contractor and the police to tread with care as all the things said in the video were true reflection of the reality on ground.

Speaking briefly shortly after his release from police custody, the comedian thanked the political leaders of Isoko nation as well as the youths and social media influencers and colleagues who called for his immediate release adding that “The freedom of Isoko has commenced from now henceforth and all contractors and leaders causing pains to the people should be ready.”
