NBA Warri celebrates 100 years of legal practice

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Warri Branch has lined up activities to Mark it’s 100 years of legal practice in Nigeria, and also to honour late Hon (Chief) Asifo Egbe who was the first chairman of the NBA Warri Branch.

Addressing a press conference in Warri, the NBA Warri Branch Chairman, Othadua A. Okpakpor Esq. said the event is to commemorate the milestone memory of the progenitor of legal practice in Warri, late Hon. Asifo Egbe.

He said; “23rd April, makes it exactly a century since late Hon. Asifo Egbe was called to the NBA and established himself as the first legal practitioner in the Midwest region and a pioneer of thriving, enriching and enviable legal practice in this part of the country “.

Outlining the programme activities for the centenary celebration of NBA Warri Branch, Othadua said the event drawn by Chairman of the Planning Committee, Michael A. Asugo with the theme; ‘100 YEARS OF LEGAL PRACTICE IN WARRI: HONOURING THE PIONEERING EFFORT OF LATE HON. ASIFO EGBE “has began with press conference and the gathering of legal minds and friends of the Bar in the evening to reminiscence on the years gone by and what tomorrow portends as lawyers in Nigeria.

“The second part will be held on the 18th of June, 2025 and the events line up for that day include; a visit to orphanage homes, provision of legal clinic, road walk and a novelty match between NBA Warri Branch elders and the NBA Warri Branch female team.

“The third part will be on 5th December, 2025, with a memorial lecture in honour of Late Hon. Asifo Egbe by array of seasoned speakers, while on the 6th of December 2025, will be a dinner event and presentation of posthumous awards to Hon. Asifo Egbe and some other early members of our branch who made us who we are today.”

The NBA Chairman however, noted that the event is to showcase the very best and unique tradition and how the efforts of a single lawyer has blossomed into a community of vibrant, brilliant and courageous legal practitioners who have ceaselessly and fearlessly upheld the tenets of justice and rule of law.
