Delta State restricts movement for monthly environmental sanitation exercise

Delta State Government, has announced the restriction of movement between the hours of 7.00 am and 10.00 am tomorrow, Saturday June 24, as a result of the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

The restriction, which was contained in a statement credited to the Director of Public Communication, Delta State Ministry of Information, Theresa Adiabua Oliko, noted: ‘There will also be a mega sanitation exercise in Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East Local Government Areas.”

The state government, added: “During the period of the exercise, there will be restrictions on the movement of persons and vehicles, and residents are to cut overgrown weeds, desilt their drainages and keep their environment clean to prevent the spread of diseases, as it is the responsibility of every resident to clean 20 meters radius of their premises.

“The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Dr. (Mrs.) Minnie Oseji, staff of the ministry, Environmental Taskforce and other relevant authorities, will monitor the clean-up exercise.

“Officials of the Delta State Waste Management Board, local government councils and other relevant authorities, would evacuate the resultant refuse to approved government dump sites in their various localities.

“It is emphasized that those found not taking part in the exercise will be brought before mobile magistrate courts for prosecution.”
