Oborevwori lauds Oshimili South Chairman, Dr Obi Ezenyili on construction of Ultramodern Townhall in Asaba

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has urged Chairmen of local government areas (LGA) across the state not to shy away from the construction of meaningful infrastructure.

Speaking yesterday in Asaba during the inauguration of the ultra-modern “ Ogwa-Ukwu Ahaba Centre, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme described the newly reconstructed town hall as a legacy project which is befitting of the rich Asaba culture.

He lauded the initiative of the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA, Dr Obi Ezenyili on delivering the project.

He charged chairmen of other local government councils will follow suit and deliver by delivering quality infrastructural projects to improve

He urged residents of Asaba and govt agencies to take proactive measures to remedy the situation of environmental sanitation, saying that Asaba should have as neat look befitting of a state Capital.

According to him, “Today Asaba is wearing a look of a state Capital as a striker of the infrastructural success of my predecessor, as the state Capital, Asaba will continue to receive primary attention”.

He then promised that the state capital will receive adequate attention in terms of the construction of new projects and the completion of older ones.

During his address, the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA Chairman, Dr Obi Ezenyili said that the reconstruction of the building became imperative due to the deplorable state of the traditional town hall of the Asaba people.

According to him, “ The initiative to reconstruct the Ogwa-ukwu Ahaba building was borne out of the desire to build community through infrastructural development.

I decided to embark on the reconstruction of the binding when I came here and saw the poor state of the edifice and the bad shape of the environment when it rains.

After that, I went to the palace of the Asagba of Asaba to seek approval to demolish the dilapidated structure and construct a new building”.

Meanwhile, Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien lauded the LGA Chairman as he backed him for a second term in office.

In her address, a Member representing Oshimili South Constituency, Barr. Bridget Anayafulu thanked the former Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa for spotting the LGA chairman and backing his political ambition, stating that the Asaba people are reaping the rewards of his good leadership.

Chairman of People’s Democratic Party in the LGA, Dada Okonji thanked residents of Asaba for their cooperation in ensuring the reconstruction of the building.
