NDLEA officers detained over shooting incident that led to death of Ivan

The police in Delta State have arrested some officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) who allegedly shot and killed a two-year old boy, Ivan Omorhiakogbe.

The raid on drug peddlers by operatives of NDLEA on July 13 in Okpanam, a suburb of the state capital, led to the death of the toddler, and injury to his younger sibling in their mother’s shop.

Spokesman for Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the officers concerned were in custody but did not disclose their identities.

He said the officers would be charged to court at the end of investigation.
