Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has commiserated with former President-General and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Okpe Union, Okakuro Dick Gberevbie (JP), whose wife, Helen, passed on Saturday, 12th August, 2023.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba the states capital, the governor said that her death was a huge loss not just to her family, but to the society.
Mrs Gberevbie’s contribution to society was laudable and urged her husband, children and other family members to be consoled by the legacies of kindness, charity and love that she left behind.
“I learnt of the passing of Chief Mrs Helen Gberevbie, the wife of our dear brother, Okakuro Dick Gberevbie, The Akpijorovi-Okpe of Okpe Kingdom, Head (Duke) of Ugolo District of Evbreke Ruling House in Okpe Kingdom and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“It is indeed heart-breaking to lose a dear one, especially a good and supportive wife of many years.
“Although death is the way of all mortals and debt we must all pay, I am nonetheless consoled by the fact that Mrs Gberevbie lived a worthy and exemplary life.
“She was known to have impacted so many lives, especially in the society while she lived.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and people of Delta, I condole with you Okakuro Dick Gberevbie, the entire family, and the Okpe Council of Chiefs on the passing of your beloved wife, Chief Mrs Helen Gberevbie, who was only recently in December 2022 conferred with a traditional title by His Majesty Orhue I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom.
“It is indeed a painful loss but I urge you and the entire family, to take solace in the fact that hers was a life of notable accomplishments and indelible footprints.
“It is our prayer that God will grant you and the family the fortitude to bear the great loss,” Oborevwori said.
Meanwhile the Okpe Union also commiserates with the Gberevbie family saying that the body is deeply saddened on the passing of Mrs Helen Gberevbie.
In statement signed by Okakuro King Iriri, National Publicity Secretary for the President-General, read: “We are heartbroken at the passing of a woman whose life was filled with exemplary service to her family and the community.”
“We urge the family to take solace in this tempting moment as the Almighty God knows how best to replenish your happiness and reduce your sorrows.”
“We also pray to the Almighty God to give the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. “May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”
