Onyeme lamented the lack of Federal presence in Beneku and oil bearing communities
The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has emphasized the urgent need for the Federal Government to prioritize the upliftment of Beneku and oil bearing communities.
Onyeme stated this recently during a visit by members of the Beneku community in the Ndokwa East Local Government Area, led by the Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Hon. Lawrence Okolie. Onyeme seized the opportunity to underscore the significance of such developmental attention.
Onyeme while speaking, articulated his perspective, highlighting the pivotal role of Beneku within Ndokwa, Delta State, and the entirety of Nigeria. The community’s substantial resource contributions make it a linchpin in the nation’s resource landscape.
With an air of concern, Onyeme expressed regret over the prolonged absence of substantial federal support in Ndokwa land, despite its consistent and substantial contributions to the national coffers. Decades of oil exploration and exploitation have fostered economic sustenance, but corresponding developmental presence has remained elusive.
“It is unfortunate that despite the huge contribution that Beneku and oil bearing communities in Ndokwa land have been making to the Federal purse on a daily basis – spanning over 40 years of oil exploration and exploitation activities – yet we do not have a Federal presence in Ndokwa land,” lamented Onyeme.
To bolster community morale, Onyeme extolled the visiting delegation’s initiative, assuring them and the broader population of Ndokwa and Delta State of remarkable progress through the MORE (Making Opportunities Real with Empowerment) agenda of the administration led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
In a call for unity and collective support, Onyeme urged the populace to rally behind governmental initiatives, signaling a promising era of development on the horizon.
Prior to Onyeme’s address, HRH Okwuagwu Anthony’s message was conveyed by Hon. Lawrence Okolie, the Chairman of the Community Development Committee. Okolie lauded Onyeme’s unimpeachable integrity, expressing optimism that the leadership under Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would pave the way for a substantial economic resurgence.
