Military government in Nigeria is invitation for anarchy – Barr. Oghojafor

Following the recent coups bedeviling some African countries, the latest being that of Niger Republic and Gabon, an Effurun-based legal practitioner and public affairs analyst, Barr. John Oghojafor says those bringing up the idea of military government in Nigeria should do away with such thoughts, warning it will be an invitation for anarchy and civil war.

Oghojafor made this known in an interview with YourCitiNews Freelance Reporter, Fredrick Umuerure in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, noting that Nigeria is divided across regional and ethnic lines as no region will want any military take over as a result of another calling for it.

He emphasized that a military regime will take the country back to the dark days where authoritarianism was the order of the day.

Speaking further, Oghojafor maintained that with Nigeria’s growing population, the country cannot afford a coup as the nation’s democracy is still evolving. Which hitherto made it very impossible for former President Olusegun Obasanjo to realize his ‘third term’ agenda.

Oghojafor warned that the leadership of remaining in power other than what the constitution upholds as seen playing out in other African countries cannot happen in Nigeria. He urged those calling for a military junta to have a rethink of its adverse consequences of throwing the country into anarchy that Nigeria is not ready for at the moment.

In his recommendation, the public analyst suggested that what Nigeria and Nigerians need at the moment is good leadership that puts premium on the people from every facet of life.

He added that leaders must be accountable to the people, as the country has witnessed so much hardship which is as a result of lack of leadership from those in power.
