Oborevwori rejoices over emergence of Guwor as Treasurer, Speakers’ Conference

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor on his election as Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

The position of Treasurer is number three in the hierarchy of Executive Officers of the Conference, after the Chairman and Deputy Chairmanship positions.

Oborevwori in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, thanked Speakers’ Conference for the confidence reposed in Rt Hon. Guwor.

The Governor who was one-time Treasurer and later Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers, commended the Delta Speaker for following his footsteps in bringing honour and glory to Delta State.

While congratulating the Speakers of Oyo and Katsina States, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin Adebo and Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya for emerging Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively, the Governor urged the presiding officers of state legislatures to see their position as a call to service and not to be served.

Oborevwori said: “On behalf of my family, the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate our dear Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor on his election as Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria.

“I also congratulate the Speakers of Oyo and Katsina States, Rt. Hon. Ogundoyin Adebo and Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya for emerging Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively.

“I thank the Speakers Conference for finding our own Speaker worthy to be elected as Treasurer only after I have also served diligently as Treasurer and Deputy Chairman while I was Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly.

“I urge you to see your positions as a call to duty and to render service to Nigerians especially in this period of economic strangulation facing our people.

“It is my prayer and that of the government and people of Delta that God will grant you all the needed wisdom and understanding to carry out this onerous task of nation-building”.
