College of Education, Warri dismisses report of increase in fees of its Nursery, Primary School

The management of College of Education, Warri, COEWA, on Tuesday, dismissed reports claiming that it increased the tuition fees of its Nursery and Primary School, saying it considers the report, “a calculated attempt by some disgruntled individuals to dent the image of the College of Education’s Nursery & Primary School.”

Parents and Guardians on Monday, staged a protest over the increase in fees and the cost of books. The parents were joined by their wards in the protest outside the school claiming that the increment is outrageous.

However, The institution’s management in a rebuttal signed by the Public Relations Officer, Omovusi Owarieta Enakarhire, stressed that it has no intention of increasing school fees.

Enakarhire noted that: “The current inflationary trend due to fuel subsidy removal impacted on the cost of books and we do not have control over it, and to mitigate the effect, the management of the Primary School gave option for three (3) installments in paying for the books. What else can be done? Moreover, we have not seen a School where PTA dictates to management. All these efforts were put in place because of the value of Basic Education, which should be affordable to all.

“When the College of Education Warri Management called for a meeting and pleaded with the PTA executives for 72 hours to appraise the situation and broker a solution, the PTA executives blatantly refused! It was an affront no management will take.

“The College of Education Warri Nursery and Primary School, is the cheapest in Warri given the quality of its manpower. While the College Management is committed to giving the students quality education, we urge the general public to totally disregard the news, because the online media failed to carry out investigation before publishing

“The College wishes to notify Daily Post and the general public that the News paraded by them is unverified and totally false. It may interest you to know that the tuition fee of the school, has not changed, and going by the M.O.R.E Agenda of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, the College Management has no intention of increasing school fees.”
