Delta govt revokes concession agreement on Lander Brothers Anchorage, Asaba

The Delta State Government has nullified the agreement in the development and management of Lander Brothers Anchorage, Asaba, following the abysmal failure of its partner, Jabi Boat Club, to execute its own side of the agreement.

According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Communication, Mrs Theresa Oliko, the “government had entered into the agreement with the private company with the aim to revamp the facility to boost the tourism sector of the state in 2021 to develop and manage the anchorage.”

“The Directorate of Culture and Tourism was in the process of conducting a fresh bid to engage a company with the capacity to develop and manage the anchorage with a view to further bring the dividends of democracy to Deltans.”

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Darlington Ijeh, issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the firm to give reasons the state government should not terminate the contract.

The agreement stipulated that the firm would build, operate and transfer, with operations scheduled to begin in 2023.
