Chairman of the Nigerian Union Of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Churchill Oyowe, has said he is poised to heal the state NUJ that has been sick for a long time with his P.O.W.E.R concept which he promised to journalists across the state during his campaign.
Oyowe made this assertion in an interview with YourCitiNews Freelance Reporter, Frederick Umuerure in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, noting that the P.O.W.E.R concept of Professionalism, Openness, Welfare of the Union, Engagement and Resourcefulness will be a therapy to drive and bring about standardization of the journalism profession in Delta State.
Speaking further, the veteran journalist stated that he has been contesting to be the chairman of the Delta State NUJ Council since 2022 and was massively voted for by elders, leaders and well-meaning members of the council who believed in him to make journalists carry out their work by the ethos of the profession that has evaded the union in the State before now.
Oyowe maintained that committees will be set up to see that professionalism is strictly adhered to by all members of the Union as it is no longer going to be an all comers affair but journalists must be guided by rules and principles of the profession in Delta State.
