Delta CJ, Diai frees 21-year-old armed robbery suspect from prison

Delta State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Theresa Diai has set a 21-year-old robbery suspect, Michael Lucky, free from the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, in Warri.

The suspect had been in prison for five years.

Justice Diai set him free during her 4th Quarter visits to the correctional facility in the Okere Community.

She warned the suspect to desist from crime and criminalities.

She said, “It’s a sign that whatever you’ve been doing, you should stop because when next they catch you, I will not even think of doing anything about your case.”

In a chat with journalists at the NSC, Lucky could not hide his joy.

He said he was accused of armed robbery in the Iyara area in Warri.

“They accuse me of armed robbery. They said I robbed somebody, which I did not know about.

“They said I carry gun go rob person and meanwhile, I no rob anybody,” he said in pidgin English.

Lucky, an Indigene of Owhelogbe Community in Isoko, expressed the belief that youths will learn from his case.

“I no get anything wey I wan talk. Joy full my body,” he added.

When reminded of the Chief Judge’s warning to him, he said, “I no do am before na. I get work wey I dey work.

“I be welder. I dey go back to my workshop.”
