Oborevwori warns communities against shutting down oil companies in Delta

Delta State government has warned oil producing communities against shutting down oil companies operating in their areas to avoid unnecessary unrest that would hinder development of the state.

He gave the warning while commissioning the Energia/Onando JV projects, which include construction and furnishing of Okpala-Uku palaces, Ebendo Secondary School, construction of 1.7km Obodougwa internal road, constitution of 10 apartment corps members lodge, construction of Azunze/Azagba road phase 1, among other projects at Emu-Ebendo, Obodougwa, Umusam-Ogbe, Isumpe, Ogbeani, Ogbole and Umusadege communities, all in Ndokwa West Council of the State.

According to the governor, who spoke through the Commissioner for oil and gas, Vincent Oyibode, “the government will not entertain any shutdown of oil companies anymore. So, we must not use our internal issues to destroy the activities of oil companies operating in the state.”

He commended Energia/Onando JV for the “exceptional performance” of the multibillion projects executed for the growth and development of the seven oil producing communities.

The governor said: “I want to thank you for meeting up with your social responsibility mandates in providing what the people needed to develop their communities.”

According to him, this much was achieved, because both the oil companies and their host communities are working together in peace and unity.
