Oborevwori affirms commitment to providing clean water to rural communities in Delta State

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has affirmed his commitment to providing clean water to rural communities in the state. This assurance was made during a visit by the Steering Committee of the Nigeria Sustainable Urban-Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (SURWASH), led by Dr. Dumebi Madu, to the Government House, Asaba.

The governor emphasized the need to improve sanitation and hygiene standards in rural areas by ensuring a consistent supply of clean water. He appreciated hosting the committee’s one-day retreat in Asaba, recognizing its potential to raise awareness and drive impactful outcomes, while reaffirming Delta State’s commitment to leading initiatives for better water access and sanitation.

Dr. Dumebi Madu, Secretary of the Federal Steering Committee of SURWASH, outlined their visit’s purpose: to strategize on enhancing nationwide water supply and sanitation. He underscored SURWASH’s role as a World Bank-supported program aimed at improving water access, sanitation, and hygiene across Nigeria, highlighting the collaborative efforts of participating states in achieving these goals.
