Niger Delta Security Watch raises concerns over Tantita’s pipeline surveillance contract

The Niger Delta Security Watch (NDSW) has expressed concerns over the recent statements made by individuals affiliated with Tompolo, claiming to represent the Niger Delta Stakeholders Forum (NDSF).

According to a statement signed by George Fiberesima, spokesman for the Niger Delta Security Watch, the NDSW clarified that all pipeline surveillance contracts awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), including those of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and Maton Engineering, have merely expired and are pending renewal. This contradicts the NDSF’s claims of contract termination.

The statement reads in part, “Our attention has been drawn to the continous diatribes, falsehood, tribal bias, and crass ignorance being displayed by some hirlings of Tompolo who styled themselves as the Niger Delta Stakeholders Forum (NDSF).

“It is a disgrace that the NDSF first carried a fake news of termination of the contract of Pipeline Infrastructure Surveillance Limited (PINL) when in actual fact all Pipeline Surveillance Contract awarded by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) including that of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), and Maton Engineering (owned by Mathew Tonlagha) had expired awaiting renewal.

“We wonder while the NDSF is peddling falsehood about the PINL contract simply because the Olu of Warri His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR has vested interest in the company but turned a blind eye to the non-performance of Mathew Tonlagha, an ally of Tompolo on the Nembe Creek Trunk Line (NCTL) contract worth $6Million Monthly. The Nembe Creek Trunk Line runs from Nembe in Bayelsa to Bonny Island in Rivers.

“It is on record that Mathew Tonlagha pocket $6M dollars monthly without doing anything, and has rendered AETIO operator of the NCTL helpless as the Terminal Recovery Factor of the NCTL is less than 20%. The NCTL is now a cash cow for Mathew Tonlagha, Keston Pondi, and Tompolo who does nothing but pocket $6M Monthly. Our intelligence report indicates that it is this free money from the NCTL that the procurement of arms to declare the Niger Delta Republic by Tompolo is being funded.

“It is in the public domain that Alhaji Asari Dokubo sometime last year issued a press statement were he accused Tantita security company and Chief Tompolo of stage managing all the recorded arrest of vessel and pipeline trunks vandals, he also accused Tantita security company that they are into the activities of hoodlums and bunkery in the Escravos river which till date the management of tantita security service neither deny. We challenge them with current happenings in Bayalsa, Escravos and other parts of Delta State that Tantita security service is carrying illegal activities of stealing and selling crude oil meant for Nigeria within this location. In his word, we know what is going on in Oporoza”.

The group commended the call by the Itsekiri Pipeline surveillance stakeholders call for the NNPCL to address these issues publicly.

They however, called on the NNPCL to provide transparency regarding their decision to award pipeline surveillance contracts to individuals referred to as “militant warlords”, especially in light of accusations of involvement in bunkering activities throughout the Niger Delta.
