In line with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s commitment to environmental sustainability and pest control in flood-prone areas, the Delta State Government initiated fumigation of public facilities through the Ministry of Environment last weekend.
The fumigation started in Ellu, Isoko North Local Government Area, to reduce infestations and combat diseases like cholera and Lassa fever.
This initiative will extend to other flood-prone communities in the Delta South Senatorial District, including Bomadi, Patani, and Warri.
In an address, The Commissioner of Environment, Hon. Jamani Ejiro, advised residents, particularly in low-lying areas, to move to higher ground due to potential flooding forecasted by NIMET this year.
Public facilities in Ellu, including schools and markets in Obie Irri and Obrogo communities, were part of the areas covered during this exercise.
