Group demands justice for DELSU student shot by policemen in Delta

Miss Hilda Rukevwe John, a student who was shot by policemen in Delta State, has been admitted at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, DELSUTH, Oghara.

She was reportedly shot by policemen attached to a VIP in front of Oria-Abraka Secondary School on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a group, Initiative for Social Rights Concerns And Advancements, (ISRCA), AKA, ‘No Justice, No Peace Initiative’ has urged the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Surajudeen Olufemi Abaniwonda, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and bringing the Police officers responsible to book.

ISRCA National Coordinator, Comrade Comrade Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen specifically called for the immediate arrest of the policemen involved in the incident.

The group said, “Students and members of the civil society will not hesitate but lead a protest until the Police officers are arrested and brought book. We’ll stop at nothing until we get justice.”

This is coming as the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the officer who shot the victim had been identified and arrested.

The victim is a final year student of the Delta State University, Abraka, in the department of Physiology, where she’s supposed to sign out on Monday.
