With a remarkable six minutes of sincere applause, the entire nation participated from streets, balconies, and windows to pay tribute to her—an impressive show of leadership and humanitarian support, hats off!
The German populace elected her as their leader, and she adeptly guided 80 million citizens for 18 years with skill, hard work, dedication, and authenticity. She steered clear of making ridiculous comments. She did not seek publicity by appearing in Berlin’s backstreets. She earned the nickname “The Lady of the World,” comparable to the strength of six million men.
During her eighteen years in office, no misconduct was associated with her. She did not appoint family members to governmental positions. She never took credit for her achievements. She did not receive extravagant salaries, nor was she celebrated for her efforts; she did not chase accolades or honors, nor did she challenge her predecessors.
Just yesterday, Merkel stepped down from her leadership role in her party and passed the baton to her successors, leaving Germany and its citizens in an exceptional state.
The reaction of the Germans was unprecedented in the history of the nation. The entire population spontaneously took to their balconies and applauded for six continuous minutes. A national standing ovation.
Germany united in saying goodbye to their leader, a chemical physicist who remained unaffected by fame or material possessions and did not indulge in buying real estate, luxury vehicles, yachts, or private jets, aware of her origins in former East Germany.
She left her position after raising Germany to its peak status. She departed without her family benefiting from her role. For eighteen years, her wardrobe stayed the same. May she receive blessings, this humble leader.

Then, another journalist asked, Who does the laundry, you or your husband? She responded: “I separate the clothes, and my husband does the washing, usually at night to save on electricity and minimize noise for our neighbors; fortunately, the shared wall of our apartment is quite thick.” She remarked to them, “I expected you would inquire about our governmental achievements and failures?”
Merkel lives in a standard apartment like any other citizen. She had been residing in that apartment long before she became Chancellor of Germany. She opted to remain there and does not own a mansion, staff, swimming pools, or gardens.
