Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has been presented with a Plaque of Honour by Admiralty University of Nigeria, Ibusa, in recognition of his administration’s strides in development and governance.
The honour was conferred during a brief ceremony on Tuesday at Government House, Asaba, led by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Christopher Ndubuisi Ogbogbo.
He was accompanied by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Rear Admiral Muhammed Abdullahi, and the Registrar, Commodore Isaac Mankilik (Rtd).
Speaking at the event, Prof. Ogbogbo described the gesture as the university’s way of acknowledging the Governor’s impact in areas of education, infrastructure, and social development.
He emphasized that strong leadership and commitment to service delivery remain vital to improving standards of living and promoting growth in the state.
The recognition adds to Governor Oborevwori’s growing list of commendations from academic institutions and professional bodies. It also echoes his earlier acknowledgement by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in 2018 for championing scholarship programmes that widened educational opportunities for Delta youths.
Admiralty University, which transitioned from a private to a federal institution in 2022 under the oversight of the Nigerian Navy, has become a symbol of federal investment in Delta’s higher education sector.
The university’s leadership noted that honouring the Governor aligns with its mission of celebrating initiatives that foster stability, human capital development, and innovation in a state historically marked by the complexities of oil-related conflicts.
Governor Oborevwori, in his remarks, expressed gratitude to the institution for the recognition, pledging to deepen his administration’s commitment to expanding educational access and sustaining development across sectors.
He reassured stakeholders that his policies will continue to reflect inclusiveness and people-centered governance.
The ceremony concluded with formal presentation of the plaque, which the Governor described as a call to greater service.
