Admissions Open at Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko

The Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, has announced the commencement of its 2025/2026 admissions exercise, with applications open until September 19, 2025.

Touted as the “Citadel for Champions,” the institution is the first dedicated sports university in Sub-Saharan Africa, blending academic excellence with high-performance training across multiple sporting disciplines.

According to its founder, Senator Ned Nwoko, the Sports University offers a unique opportunity for young Nigerians and Africans passionate about sports and education. Students are provided with compulsory sports training alongside their academic programmes in a safe, secure, and fully residential environment.

Available Programmes span a wide range of disciplines, including:

Sports Science & High-Performance Training in football, basketball, swimming, athletics, tennis, taekwondo, and more.

Allied Health Sciences such as nursing, public health, physiotherapy, and medical laboratory science.

Mass Communication, Management & Social Sciences, Sciences, and Architecture.

Certificate, Diploma, and Preparatory Studies tailored for athletes, coaches, and students with sporting talent.
