Agbor Coaches and Directors Union (ACADU) elects new president

Alika Onyeka of Golden Boys Football Club emerged president of the Agbor football Coaches and Directors Union (ACADU) following a landslide victory in the election on Saturday July 15th.

Coach Alika Onyeka along with his running mate, Coach Harrison Obodo of Delta Milan, who contested the election against incumbent Vice President, Coach Dike Ifeanyi and his running mate outgoing Secretary, Raul Chris, polled 26 votes while the later got only 10 votes.

Alika Onyeka who was before now the Assistant Secretary of the Agbor Coaches Union will succeed outgoing president Mathew Orhibhabor whose interim tenure ends this July.

The Agbor Coaches and Directors Union (ACADU) was formed in July 2022 with Adodo Martins appointed as President. Adodo of Uriel FA later resigned in October 2022 following which his vice president Matthew Orhibhabor of Rainbow FC took charge.

Matthew steered the Union to greater height organizing several tournaments within the span of 8 months and helped to curb the incessant movement of players from club to club without proper documentation.

About 36 Coaches and Directors representing 24 Clubs and Academy within the Ika region of Delta State took part in the election in which the Outgoing Treasurer of the Union and Director of Ultimate Stars, Mr George Nkem applauded the conduct of the election and congratulated the winners.

“It was a great election, congratulations to the winners and all coaches for their good conduct and peaceful election, I hope the next phase of the union will be greater” he said in the group’s whatsapp chat.

Prior to the election, Onyeka along with his running mate presented their manifesto in which they set out their vision and mission for the Union.

In the manifesto, they the mission statement states “To unite all Ika Coaches and Directors and inspire communities in Ika to experience the joy of the game by delivering the world’s most exciting sports and entertainment experience in Agbor and Environ”

While the Vision states “To create a fun, safe and sustainable environment for everyone to enjoy and participate in football in Agbor and Environ”

Onyeka went on to state the objective of his candidacy to “Organise a standard League, organize Quarterly Scouting Tournament, raise a United Agbor Team of the best players and Attract local and international Sponsors

The newly elected President and his executives will be officially sworn in on Saturday 29th July 2023.
