Akpowowo Urges Ughelli North LG Advisory Committee to Put in Their Best

The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Olorogun) Arthur Akpowowo Esq, has urged the newly sworn-in 21-member Ughelli North Local Government Advisory Committee to use their knowledge and experience to positively impact the development of the local government.

Rt. Hon. Akpowowo gave the charge while speaking as the Chairman at the inauguration ceremony of the 21-member Eminent Persons Group of the Ughelli North Local Government Area Advisory Committee. The event, which also included a briefing by the Executive Chairman of the Council, Olorogun Barr. Jaro Egbo, KSC, to elders and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was part of the activities marking Egbo’s first anniversary in office as Executive Chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Council.

The Deputy Speaker praised Olorogun Jaro Egbo for what he called impressive accomplishments within just one year of leading the council. He encouraged the advisory committee to support the Executive Chairman’s vision by offering strategic advice that would help drive further development in the local government.

He also thanked the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the meaningful projects being carried out in Ughelli North—especially the ongoing construction of the Otowodo Flyover, which he said will greatly improve the area’s infrastructure and overall appearance.

Rt. Hon. Akpowowo also referred to Ughelli as the historic and administrative heart of the Urhobo Nation, emphasizing the importance of unity among all stakeholders to ensure the council’s continued growth and development.

Notable members of the Advisory Committee include Chief Miler Uloho (Chairman), Rt. Hon. Ovie Festus Agas, Hon. Stella Okotete, Chief Andrew Oru (Ph.D.), Olorogun Oscar Ibru, Professor Ibodje, Professor Ezekiel Agbalagba (Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun), and Dr. Isaac Akpoveta, among others.

The Deputy Speaker also reaffirmed his commitment to backing initiatives that promote peace, development, and inclusive governance in Ughelli North and across Delta State, in line with the MORE AGENDA of Governor Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.
