Renewed efforts are underway to strengthen peace between the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities as both sides met again to resolve their age-long boundary dispute.
At a joint peace meeting held at the Warri South-West Local Government Secretariat in Ogbe-Ijoh Delta State, leaders and representatives from both communities reaffirmed their commitment to lasting peace and unity.
The meeting, presided over by the Chairmen of Warri South-West and Udu Local Government Areas — Hon. Sylvester Oromoni and Olorogun (Hon.) Vincent Oyibode — reviewed earlier agreements and addressed concerns about unauthorized social-media posts and ongoing construction on the buffer zone.
After deliberations, key resolutions were reached, including: sustaining the peace process to a logical conclusion, stopping all encroachment or building on disputed land, ending unauthorized online publications about the crisis, setting up a think-tank committee to consider boundary adjustment, and continuing regular peace meetings to build trust.
Security agencies also warned against carrying unauthorized firearms, while both sides agreed to promote love, tolerance, and mutual respect instead of dwelling on historical claims.
The next peace meeting is scheduled for the Udu Local Government Secretariat, Otor-Udu, on or before the second week of November.
