The Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Barr. Ada Val Arenyeka, received members of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) Tuesday, 19th November 2024, in his office.
The visit centered on the association’s request for increased government assistance to farmers in the state.
The leader of the delegation congratulated the Honourable Commissioner on his recent appointment and expressed optimism for enhanced collaboration between the ministry and the farming community.
In his response, Barr. Arenyeka assured the delegation of the ministry’s commitment to ensuring that farmers are adequately supported and carried along in the government’s agricultural initiatives.
He emphasized the need for integrity and authenticity within the sector, urging AFAN members to uphold the true essence of farming.
“Only genuine farmers will benefit from the ministry’s empowerment programs,” the Commissioner stated.
“It will no longer be business as usual, where individuals or groups attempt to exploit the system for personal gain. The focus will remain on empowering true farmers who contribute to the sector’s growth.”
He further highlighted the significant support provided by the state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
Barr. Arenyeka disclosed that preparations are underway to invest in dry-season farming, with plans set to commence in the coming weeks.
The Honourable Commissioner reaffirmed his ministry’s dedication to advancing agriculture in the state and called for the continued partnership of all stakeholders to achieve sustainable food security and economic growth.
