Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, says the newly completed Ozoro Modern Market is ready for use and will improve trading activities in the area. Aniagwu made this known on Tuesday during an inspection of the facility in Isoko North, where he expressed satisfaction with the work done and the overall finish of the market.
He said the project would create a better environment for traders and help strengthen local business activity in Ozoro and surrounding communities. The commissioner also acknowledged the role of the Ministry of Trade and Investment in overseeing the construction, noting that proper supervision contributed to the outcome of the project.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for pushing the project to completion, adding that the market is expected to serve a wide range of users across Isoko land. According to Aniagwu, the facility includes more than 190 open stalls, lock-up shops, storage areas, offices, and a hall for meetings and events. He added that it also provides parking space, water supply, sanitation systems, and basic safety features.
He confirmed that the market will soon be commissioned. On how shops will be distributed, Aniagwu said the process will be open and closely monitored to ensure fairness. He stressed that priority would be given to active traders, not individuals looking to take advantage of others.

“This market is meant for real traders. We will make sure the right people benefit from it,” he said. He added that officials of the Ministry of Trade and Investment, alongside local authorities and market leaders, would handle the allocation to avoid irregularities. During the visit, Aniagwu also inspected road projects in Oleh, where he praised the quality of work and noted visible improvements in road structure and drainage.
He said several road projects across Isoko communities are progressing, including those around the College of Health Technology in Ovrode. The commissioner also disclosed that plans for the proposed Isoko Ring Road are moving forward, describing it as a key route that will improve movement within the area.
Other projects, he said, are ongoing in Emevor, Olomoro, and Ozoro, while work on Ogorugba Street will begin soon.
Aniagwu assured residents that the state government will continue to focus on infrastructure that directly impacts daily life, while also encouraging local contractors to take part in future projects.
