Army Seeks Stronger Security Collaboration with Olu of Warri

The Nigerian Army has called for deeper collaboration with traditional institutions to strengthen security and sustain peace in Delta State and beyond.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Ejim-Emekah, made the appeal on Saturday during a courtesy visit to His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri, as part of events marking the monarch’s fourth coronation anniversary.

Major General Ejim-Emekah congratulated the Olu on his reign and prayed for his continued good health, divine wisdom, and grace to lead the Warri Kingdom with peace and stability.

He stressed that the army considers traditional rulers as vital stakeholders in its ongoing efforts to enhance security and build stronger civil-military relations in the Niger Delta region.

Responding, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, expressed gratitude for the visit and commended the Nigerian Army for its sacrifices in protecting lives and property. The monarch pledged his unwavering support for the 6 Division, affirming that his palace would always be open to the military in their quest to maintain peace and security.

The visit featured the symbolic presentation of a commemorative plaque to the Olu of Warri by the GOC, underscoring the cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and the traditional institution.

Accompanying Major General Ejim-Emekah was the Rear Commanding Officer of the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Major M. L. Salman, who also joined in paying homage to the revered monarch.

Security analysts note that the renewed partnership highlights the importance of grassroots engagement in tackling evolving security challenges in the Niger Delta, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to peacebuilding alongside traditional authorities.
