The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Epiphany Azinge SAN, has unveiled Asaba International Road Race in Asaba, Delta State.
The 10km road race with a prize money of thirty four million naira for winners in various categories, slated to hold on October 5, 2025, will mark his one anniversary as the 14th Asagba of Asaba.
The Asagba of Asaba, Obi Epiphany Azinge told sports journalists in Asaba, on Wednesday, that the event would attract long distance runners from within and outside the shores of the country.

The Asagba said, “The International road race is expected to showcase Asaba not only as the capital city but as one of the fastest growing metropolis in Nigeria and Africa at large.
“It will also attract lovers of sports from across the country as well as international participants, thereby boosting economic activities in the kingdom and the rich cultural heritage of the Asaba people.
“All participants will be catered for as the landmark event is in support of the Delta State government’s effort in promoting sports.
Chairman of the Asaba Sports Promotion Committee Rtd. Wing Commander Peter Iweze gave an assurance that the committee would plan a befitting 10km race of international standard.
While commending the traditional ruler for his commitment and support for sports development in his kingdom, Iweze hinted that the road race would showcase Asaba as a sporting hub.
A member of the planning committee and consultant, Moses Nwanze said the 10 kilometer road race would commence from the Stephen Keshi Stadium or St. Patrick’s College to Anwai road, summit road, Mariam Babangida through Okpanam road and round up at the Cenotaph.
He said cash prizes would be given to both male and female athletes of Asaba origin, other parts of Nigeria as well as international athletes .
Nwanze who disclosed that participation for all athletes is free of charge, said there would be registration and accreditation of participants.
According to him, the use of traditional clothing and artifact will make the sporting event unique.
