The newly reelected Financial Secretary of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, Chief Sir Simon Asite (JP), has urged Urhobo people to unite behind the reelected President General of the union, Chief Ese Gam Owe, whom he described as an experienced and highly respected legal mind.
His appeal follows the conclusion of the UPU Worldwide general elections.
Chief Asite, who hails from Evwreni and is a member of the Urhobo Integrity Organization (UPIO), made the call during an exclusive chat with our correspondent at his Kolokolo Layout, Enerhen residence over the weekend.
“Now that the elections have come and gone, it is time for the Urhobo people to rally behind our reelected President General, Olorogun Ese Gam Owe, to strengthen the UPU and drive greater development across Urhobo Nation—especially at a time when an Urhobo son, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, is Governor of Delta State.
“We must avoid negative, destructive criticism. People are watching us. The ‘pull him down’ syndrome must stop.
“Those who didn’t win should congratulate Olorogun Ese Gam Owe and work with him for the progress of the Urhobo Nation.”
Chief Asite, who also serves as the National Financial Secretary of UPIO, went on to commend the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the 2025 UPU Congress/Urhobo Day celebration, Dr. (Olorogun) Ebenezer Okorodudu, for organizing what he described as a very credible and successful event.
“He is a known mobilizer and a highly respected figure in Urhoboland, Delta State, and Nigeria,” he noted.
He also expressed gratitude to the Urhobo people for reelecting him as Financial Secretary of the UPU Worldwide, promising to build on his previous achievements.
