Association Calls on Govt to Prioritize Education Standards

The Zik Grammar School, Sapele Old Students Association (ZGSOSA) Class of ’81 has made an earnest appeal to the Delta State Government to place greater focus on improving educational standards across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the group during a recent get-together in Sapele, the Association’s Chairman, Chief Tony Uronarigho, represented by the Secretary, Mr. Austin Ekede emphasized the association’s commitment to supporting quality education and ensuring that future generations have access to modern, world-class learning environments.

The group pointed out that their appeal comes at a crucial time, considering the current challenges facing public schools in Nigeria. “Many institutions are grappling with poor infrastructure, outdated teaching materials, and limited resources, all of which undermine students’ ability to compete on a global scale,” they noted.

Chief Uronarigho added that ZGSOSA is determined to help close the gap between the present state of education and the high standards needed to achieve academic excellence.

The association emphasized that achieving meaningful improvements in education would require the government to focus on key areas such as infrastructure development, teacher training, and curriculum reform.

They also encouraged the government to promote greater community involvement in education by fostering partnerships between schools, private sector organizations, and alumni associations. “This collaborative approach can help close funding gaps, provide much-needed resources, and support long-term sustainability. By working together, all stakeholders can help revive the education sector and return public schools to their former glory,” they stated.

The association added that their call to action serves as a reminder that raising educational standards is a shared responsibility. “As the Delta State government considers this appeal, it’s important to prioritize the needs of both students and schools, and to invest in programs that drive academic excellence and prepare future generations for lasting success,” they said.
