Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo Off Cycle Elections: Those expecting free and fair elections must be comedians

The off cycle elections carried out in the three states; Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo state is nothing but a clear replay of the events of the February General election. There was total lack of fear of the law because the law itself is made and interpreted by certain criminals and traitors.

Nigeria is reportedly a democratic state where the people are governed according to the provisions of the constitution. However, the constitution has been filtered and interpreted in a way to favour high profile criminals.

One of the most important events in Nigeria is elections, where unlimited resources is legally and illegally allocated to ensure a free exercise. However, the resources are always subverted by persons in political spaces.

Nigeria held one of the most important general elections earlier this year; February 2023. The election was the most participatory in the whole of the history of elections in Nigeria, youths were determined to participate in order to contribute in the process. However, the election turned out to be violent, violated and manipulated.

The results of the election bred lots of controversies and oppositions both home and abroad, but nothing was done to correct the mess rubbed over the faces of Nigerians. Little did we know that we’ve just received a tip of the iceberg.

The last hope of the common man is supposed to be the judiciary where justice is unreserved and readily available. Unfortunately, the supposed hope has been undermined, influenced and subjugated by the political occupants in Nigeria.

Despite a vast level of violence recorded during the elections and international reports showing the elections were unfair, the judiciary referred the election as fair and acceptable. By this, a reasonable number of Nigerians had withdrawn their hope in the judiciary and the entire politics of the state.

The off cycle elections carried out in the three states; Bayelsa, Kogi and Imo state is nothing but a clear replay of the events of the February General election. There was total lack of fear of the law because the law itself is made and interpreted by certain criminals and traitors.

The case of the off cycle elections is similar to an event where a parent caught their daughter fornicating and living a wayward life but she bribed her parents with lot of money and gifts, the parent then kept quiet and patted her back. By this, the daughter would definitely repeat same actions over and over again because there’s no one to challenge her as she’s monetized her parent’s capacity of probe. Just as it appears, politicians have blindfolded the judiciary by a high level of inducing bribes, hence there’s no possibility of justice.

Many Nigerians have taken to social media platforms to oppose and protest the outcome of the off cycle elections. This protest is more of a joke because the system has shown her incapacity to carry out such duty either during the season or off cycle.

Nigerians should understand the system of government operated in the country they live in. There’s no recognition of the rule of law, all laws are designed to favour the rulers at the expense of the masses.

Nigerians must understand that one can’t build something on nothing. Contesting any form of elections in the present system and administration is just a waste of time and resources. Nigerians must first contest the system and policy that has crippled and imprisoned them to live like ants where they’re entitled to be elephants.
