The Benikrukru Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West LGA of Delta State, marked a significant milestone on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, as residents gathered for a landmark handover and inauguration ceremony for its newly elected Executive Council.
The event signaled the beginning of a fresh three-year leadership cycle focused on unity and development.
Pondi Chairs Ceremony, Monarch Sends Royal Blessings
Held at the Oboro Ultra-Modern Playground, the ceremony was chaired by High Chief Kestin Pondi, FNSE, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. Pondi, serving as the chief host, offered guidance and charged the new leaders to uphold accountability and service to the people.
His Royal Majesty, Oboro Gbaraun II, Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, was represented by a delegation of the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs, led by Chief Wellington Okirika. The monarch’s blessings and assurances of palace support were conveyed to the newly inducted council.
Outgoing Executive Hands Over; New Leaders Take Oath
The swearing-in ceremony featured the formal oath-taking by newly elected officials, followed by a symbolic transfer of authority. Outgoing Chairman, Mr. Joel A. Tonjoh, presented a Certificate of Service as he handed over leadership to Pastor Blessing Tortor.
In his acceptance speech, Pastor Tortor thanked the community for its confidence and pledged to foster unity, transparency, and continued development.
Community Projects Commissioned
Highlighting the day’s events was the commissioning of key development projects, including the refurbished Benikrukru Primary Healthcare Centre executed by the Tonjoh administration with support from the EMT Foundation, and the new Community Corpers’ Lodge, inaugurated by High Chief Pondi.
