Big Child Initiative Launches Football Tournament to Spot Young Talent in Delta

Talented secondary school students in Ndokwa now have a platform to showcase their football skills with the launch of the Ndokwa Interschools Football Tournament 2025 (NIFT) by Big Child Initiative. The tournament is set to run from November 11 to December 11, 2025, involving public secondary schools across the Ndokwa area.

This grassroots sports and educational event aims to promote talent discovery, academic excellence, and community unity, while encouraging healthy competition among young people and steering them away from social vices.

Founder of Big Child Initiative, Ifeanyi Samson, explained that the tournament aligns with the organization’s mission to help children in Ndokwa achieve their full potential while fostering peace and harmony in the community.

He emphasized, “This is more than just a game; it’s about creating opportunities, nurturing dreams, and inspiring a generation.”

“The Big Child Initiative has always aimed to create opportunities for underprivileged youth to dream big, display their talents, and build confidence for the future. This tournament embodies that vision, showing that when we unite with a shared purpose and spirit, achieving greatness is inevitable.

“Every pass, every goal, every shared idea, and every act of support shows the power of teamwork. The cup is more than just a trophy—it represents what we can achieve when we come together.

“Our goal is to empower young people through education, mentorship, and sports, bridging the gap between talent and opportunity. We want to ensure that gifted youths from underserved communities have the resources and platform to succeed both on and off the field.”

With celebrated football stars like Ibezito Ogbonna and Precious Dede expected to attend, the winning school teams won’t just take home trophies and up to one million naira—they will also gain the chance to connect with talent scouts, who will be present both in person and virtually during the tournament.
