The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido has charged catholic youths to learn skills and be self-reliant rather than rely on white-collar jobs, to meet the modern trend in the country.
Bishop Ewherido gave this charge at the 2025 Diocesan Youth Day organised by the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ekiugbo, Ughelli.
Speaking at the reception after the Mass held for the Youth, Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, urged catholic youths to learn skills and be self-reliant.
He explained that, anyone with skill and creative hands cannot go hungry.
Bishop Ewherido called on catholic youths to be disciplined, diligent, hardworking and shun all forms of fraudulent acts.
The Youth Chaplain of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria, Warri Diocese, Rev Father Tega Ogbeni, said that the diocesan youth day is a programme held to witness for Christ.
He urged the Youth body to continue to be steadfast, put their faith in God and be good ambassadors of the Catholic faith.
Youth President of the Diocese, Mr Peter Obure, appreciated all for the love and support for the Youth Organisation.
He said the Diocesan Youth Day is an event for young People organised by the Catholic Church and Congratulated Rev Fr Tega Ogbeni on his appointment as the Deputy National Chaplain for the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria
Chairman of the event, Professor Sunny Awhefeada, said that there are many challenges faced by youths in the country and urged them to believe in God to overcome them.

He encouraged youths to learn to make sacrifices, stressing that they must forego the pleasures of the world and encouraged them to embrace discipline.
Executive Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Olorogun Efeturi Onosorhue, highlighted some of the programmes and policies of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, describing him as a youth-friendly Governor.
He urged Catholic Youths to take advantage of the various programmes of the State Governor to better their lives.
