Chairman Benikrukru oil community in Gbaramatu presents one-year report

The executive chairman of oil-rich Benikrukru community in Gbaramatu kingdom, Delta State, Comrade Joel Tonjoh, has disclosed that the Egbema and Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation EGCDF, have been divided into two distinct entities for smooth administration of the Petroleum Industry Act PIA, in the areas.

Tonjoh informed that each of the two Communities Development Foundations now independently governs their respective areas under the PIA administration.

He disclosed this while presenting a comprehensive account of the council’s first-year stewardship at an Extraordinary General Meeting held in Benikrukru.

The report unveiled the achievements and initiatives undertaken by the executive council since their inauguration on November 25, 2022.

Tonjoh informed that the Chevron PIA Board of Trustees, BoT, chairman, Chief Joseph Wuruyai, had assured that the next pivotal step remained the signing of the PIA constitution by the National Union of Communities in Oil Producing Areas, NUCIA.

Tonjoh further listed other key accomplishments of and initiatives undertook by the council to include: the construction of Zion Walkway, which he said was already progressing steadily; the Oboro Primary School Library, which has been completed and fully stocked with books, while significant progress has been recorded on the Oboro Nursery School, with only septic tank construction pending.
