Chioma Okafor, a forward from the University of Connecticut in the U.S., has been invited to join the Super Falcons training camp in Lisbon as they prepare for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The 20-year-old striker has officially chosen to play for Nigeria, clarifying the uncertainty regarding her international career.
With a Nigerian father and a Malawian mother, she was eligible to represent either country. After discussions with both national football associations, she decided to compete for Nigeria.
The Malawian Football Association has acknowledged her decision and sent their best wishes for her future.

Okafor is well-known for her speed and outstanding goal-scoring talent. Her addition is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s offensive lineup as the team aims to secure its 10th continental title.
The Super Falcons are set to begin their training camp in Lisbon soon.
They have organized a friendly match against Portugal, followed by another game against Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco.
This selection marks an important milestone in Okafor’s career and could lead to her debut on one of Africa’s most prestigious football stages.
WAFCON 2025 is scheduled to begin on July 5 in Morocco, with Nigeria’s Super Falcons pursuing their tenth title since winning the first edition held in Nigeria in 1998.
