Star striker for Warri Wolves, Chisom Martins Orji, has revealed his primary ambition for the current Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season. The forward’s main goal is to help the newly promoted Seasiders secure a continental ticket.
Orji expressed his determination during an exclusive interview with Sports247. He believes the team can achieve this ambitious target by continuing their winning streak.
The lanky attacker has been instrumental for the Seasiders since joining in August. He previously played for Sporting Lagos FC, Akwa United, and Farmalicao in Portugal.
Orji was particularly thrilled after scoring the lone goal in Warri Wolves’ 1-0 victory over defending champions Remo Stars on Thursday. This goal was a dream come true for him, especially against a team he admired since his academy days.
“It was a wonderful game, and I am happy with my performance,” Orji stated gleefully. “I had always wanted to score against Remo Stars since a long time ago, and I’m glad that I finally got the chance.”
He admitted that scoring against the champions was on his mind throughout the match. It was a dream he had harbored for years.
Despite his personal triumph, Orji remains focused on the future. He acknowledges that he must continue working harder daily to achieve his goal.
“This goal made me feel good, but I know that I must keep on improving daily,” Orji said. He also emphasized the importance of team success, stating, “I also want the team to keep on winning all our matches.”
The striker also shared his personal journey of overcoming a significant injury. He was sidelined for two to three months and has only recently returned to full match fitness.
“I’ve been injured, and I just came back into the game after two to three months out,” Orji explained. Now that he is back, he is eager to contribute more to the team.
“Now that I’m back, I want to keep on giving my best, and I pray that God will help me,” he supplicated.
Warri Wolves are currently ninth on the NPFL log. However, Orji is confident that consistent wins will see them climb higher. He firmly believes the team can secure a continental spot by the end of the season.
“By God’s grace, I know we’ll get a continental spot at the end of this season, and I want to help them achieve it in a big way,” Orji declared. His dedication and ambition make him a key player for Warri Wolves’ pursuit of a historic continental qualification.
