Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has shut down viral rumours claiming he has passed away, assuring fans and loved ones that he’s very much alive, healthy, and still going strong.
The 68-year-old made the clarification in a video shared on his official Instagram page on Friday, September 12, 2025.
He called on the public to disregard the false reports, labeling them as “diabolical and misleading.”
“Chief Chiwetalu Agu, Okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State, is not going to die anytime soon. Instead, I will be the one to bury my enemies. Na who dig pit go fall inside. Na who dig grave go fall inside,” Agu said.
Chiwetalu Agu also shared that he’s looking forward to enjoying life with his future grandchildren when the time comes, and is in good health clearly shutting down any talk of his death.
Addressing the source of the false news, Agu said that while he could have taken legal action for defamation if a major platform had spread the rumor, he decided against it since the blogger behind it is “still chasing likes” and not worth the trouble.
“What baffles me is that in this 21st century, 2025, a lot of people are still gullible to believe such things without confirming whether it is true or not,” he added.
His response came after a little-known blogger published the false story, causing confusion and concern among fans and admirers both in Nigeria and abroad.
