Nigeria’s Jamilu Collins and Ivorian forward Yakou Méïté are among the players that Cardiff City, an EFL Championship team, have let go.
According to the club’s official announcement, these players will depart at the conclusion of their contracts on June 30, 2025. The club also revealed that interim manager and former player Aaron Ramsey will be leaving.
“Aaron Ramsey will part ways with the Bluebirds this summer. The Welsh captain returned to his childhood club in the summer of 2023 and took on the role of caretaker manager for the final three matches of the 2024/25 season. We wish Aaron all the best as he leaves Cardiff City Stadium,” part of the announcement stated.
“Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas, and Yakou Méïté will depart at the end of their contracts on June 30, 2025.”
Collins, originating from Kaduna, honed his skills at Abuja Football College Academy. He was among several individuals who made the leap from Abuja to the youth squad of HNK Rijeka in mid-2012.
In October 2012, Collins signed his first professional contract with HNK Rijeka. On May 20, 2022, Collins joined Cardiff City. He stated, “I’m genuinely thrilled to be in Cardiff and can’t wait to start.
The club has a rich heritage, and when I got the call to come to Cardiff, I was overjoyed and couldn’t say no. I’m ready for the challenge that lies ahead.
The goal is to aim for the Premier League. I’m excited to connect with the fans and fight for the jersey.”

Having joined Cardiff City on a free transfer after leaving German club SC Paderborn in May 2022, Collins suffered an injury during pre-season that hindered his chances of starting.
The 30-year-old’s last appearance for the Bluebirds was in November 2024. Collins was close to leaving Cardiff City in January, but no club made a viable offer.
In the recently concluded season, he played in three matches but did not manage to score or register an assist.
