According to a report from Soccernet, Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers has been advised to consider a move to Greek club AEK Athens from Scottish side Rangers.
Dessers has spent two seasons at the Scottish club, where he has scored an impressive 51 goals in all competitions.
However, he seems likely to leave the club during the summer transfer window after reaching a preliminary agreement with former Greek champions AEK Athens.
While a transfer fee with Rangers has not been confirmed, the 30-year-old has received encouragement from his former fitness coach, Paraskevas Polychronopoulos, to pursue this opportunity.
Polychronopoulos, who previously trained Dessers at Rangers, is now linked with newly promoted English Premier League club Leeds United.
He remarked, “I genuinely believe this transfer would be advantageous for both Cyriel and AEK.” The coach shared his thoughts on the potential transfer of the top scorer from the Scottish league.
“He has a fantastic character and maintains a high level of professionalism. He is a kind person, always seen with a smile, which is an important aspect.
Throughout both his first and second seasons at Rangers, he was involved in nearly every match, underscoring his dependability. He is consistently available and seldom faces injuries.
The coach further highlighted some of the forward’s qualities, mentioning that he marked his return to the Nigeria national team with a goal and an assist, guiding them to victory at the recently held Unity Cup in England.

“He embodies the classic No. 9 role. Although he might not press the opposing defense as often or excel at holding the ball, he possesses a natural ability to position himself well and finish chances with a single touch. This is his extraordinary skill.
“He is an unpredictable striker capable of scoring in multiple ways, as he has a talent for finding himself in critical positions. He was the top scorer in Scotland and scored in all competitions during both seasons at Rangers.
With significant experience at the age of 30, he has played in the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Scotland, and for the Nigerian National Team.
